Have you tried the "magic pills" the "miracle diets"? If you are like me you have. Sometimes they work and you drop a lot of weight only to put it back on plus some. Why can't we keeep the weight off? Some of us have slow metabolism or some other medical reason. Some of us claim to have a medical reason because it easier than admitting we can not control ourselves. Many of us are compulsive or just plain enjoy eating. Whatever your reason is, you can overcome it.

The first step to losing the weight is finding the proper motivation. For some it may be a big event like a class reunion or a wedding. For others it may be to attract romantic partners, and for others it might be for the sake of being healthy. Whatever the motivation is, it must be strong enough for you to use as a weapon against your urges.
For me it was simple, my health. I had gained a tremendous amount of weight and it was effecting my well being. My cholesterol and blood pressure were both high. I was chronically ill with a cold or the flu because my body was not able to physically fight off these bugs.

Change of Lifestyle vs. Dieting

The only way you will be able to lose weight safely and keep it off is to change your lifestyle for good. This means you cannot do a crash diet or deprive yourself of essential nutrients and vitamins. Instead change your eating habits so that you take in no more than the recommended daily alowances. Create a diet that you will be able to live with forever. Become physically active. You don't have to become Joe Exercise Freak, just add some physical activity to your daily life. Anything more than you are doing is a good start.
